The NS (Name Server) records of a domain name reveal which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Essentially, the zone is the group of all records for the domain name, so when you open a URL inside a browser, your personal computer asks the DNS servers worldwide where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain address ought to be retrieved. That way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain address is so that the latter is mapped to an Internet protocol address and the website content is requested from the right location, a mail relay server discovers which server deals with the emails for the domain address (MX record) so that a message can be sent to the needed mailbox, and so on. Any modification of these sub-records is performed through the company whose name servers are used, so that you can keep the website hosting and switch only your email provider for example. Each and every domain address has no less than two NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix like NS or DNS.

NS Records in Shared Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our shared hosting plans, will permit you to control the name servers of any domain name registered through us with simply a few clicks, so even though you may have never had a hosting plan or a domain address before, you simply won't encounter any difficulties. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, comes with a very user-friendly interface and will allow you to modify the NS records of any domain or even a number of domain addresses together. In addition we give you the ability to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for each domain registered inside the account just as easily and all you need for that is a pair of IPs - either ours, if you are going to use the child NS to forward the domain name to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you will use the new records to point the domain to their system. Different from other providers, we don't charge additional for providing this additional DNS management service.
